Safe Chews for Puppies

Safe Chews for Puppies

Finding safe chews for puppies can feel overwhelming. Your tiny, curious pup is growing fast and chewing is a huge part of their development—but of course, you want to be sure they’re only chewing on things that are gentle, digestible, and good for them.

With so many artificial or overly processed puppy chew sticks on the market, it can be hard to know where to begin. That’s why we’ve put together a list of our favourite natural, healthy, and puppy-safe chews to help you make confident, informed choices—sorted by suggested age range.

Our Favourite Safe Chews for Puppies

We’ve put together a full collection of natural puppy treats and chews made with gentle, wholesome ingredients—perfect for growing pups. But if you’re not sure where to start, here are a few of our top picks:

1) Cow Ears (suggested age 8 weeks+)

Cow ears are one of the best chews for teething puppies. They’re tough enough to satisfy your pup’s natural urge to chew, but gentle on their developing digestive system. Naturally low in fat and highly digestible, cow ears offer a longer-lasting chew without upsetting sensitive tummies—making them a perfect choice during those tricky teething months.

2) Pork Spaghetti (suggested age 8 weeks+)

These long, thin sticks of dehydrated pork intestine are a great way to keep your puppy happily chewing. They’re chewy enough to engage young teeth and jaws, but not so long-lasting that your pup loses interest. Ideal for short chew sessions and packed with natural flavour, they’re a perfect in-between treat.

3) Rabbit Ears (without fur) (suggested age 8 weeks+)

Rabbit ears without fur are a gentle, chewy treat ideal for puppies from 8 weeks onwards. Slightly softer and moister than cow ears, they offer a satisfying chew while being low in fat and easy to digest—perfect for young, sensitive tummies.

We recommend starting with fur-free rabbit ears for younger pups. As your puppy grows and their digestive system matures, you can gradually introduce rabbit ears with fur for the added benefit of natural worming support.

4) Pizzles (suggested age 8 weeks+)

Pizzles, also known as bully sticks, are a brilliant all-round chew for puppies. Naturally tough and long-lasting, they’re ideal for teething pups who need something satisfying to gnaw on. Our skinny pizzles are sized perfectly for smaller mouths, offering a safe and manageable chew without being overwhelming.

You can even pop them in the freezer for an added soothing effect on sore gums—perfect during teething flare-ups!

5) Fish Skin Thins (suggested age 8 weeks+)

Fish Skin Thins are light, chewy, and packed with natural omega-3s to support healthy skin, coat, and brain development. These gently air-dried treats are perfect for younger puppies—they're easy to chew, highly digestible, and naturally low in fat.

Their texture is engaging without being too tough, making them an excellent introductory chew for little ones who are just getting started.

6) Lamb Muscle Meat (suggested age 8 weeks+)

These naturally shaped pieces of dehydrated lamb muscle are a tasty and satisfying chew for growing puppies. Chewy in texture but still easy to digest, they’re made from 100% lamb—nothing added, nothing artificial.

Low in fat and full of flavour, they’re a great option for pups ready to explore new textures and proteins.

7. Little Trainers Fish and Sweet Potato (suggested age 8 weeks+)

Our Little Trainers are tiny nuggets of natural goodness—perfect for puppy training sessions. With approximately 500 bite-sized pieces per 250g bag, they’re the ideal size for frequent rewarding without overfeeding.

Made with just two simple ingredients—fish and sweet potato—they’re easy to digest, gentle on sensitive tummies, and completely free from additives, grains, or fillers. That’s it—just clean, wholesome fuel for growing pups.

Note: These age ranges are just a guide. Every pup is different, so we always recommend introducing new chews slowly and monitoring for any tummy upsets. And remember—always supervise your puppy when giving them chews!
