Frequently Asked Questions About Pate (400g)

Can dogs eat pate?

Our pate is created specifically for dogs, so the answer is a resounding YES! Feeding dogs pate that is meant for human consumption is not recommended. Most of these pates are made with ingredients that may not be suitable for dogs and can potentially be harmful to them. Some common ingredients found in pate for human consumption, such as onions, garlic, certain spices, and high amounts of salt, can be toxic to dogs in high quantities and lead to health issues. Additionally, pate is often high in fat, which can cause digestive upset or even pancreatitis in dogs.

At what age can dogs eat pate?

Our pate is suitable for puppies from 8 weeks+. With all natural ingredients and a low fat content, our pate is unlikely to cause any tummy problems for immature digestive systems. It is  a perfect high value training treat for puppies.

How long does the pate last once opened?

Unopened the pate can be stored at room temperature in a cool, dark place for 24 months. Once opened, it should be kept in a resealable container (or wrapped in some cling film), refrigerated and used within 3 days or you can chop it up and freeze it for future use.

Can the pate be frozen?

Yes it can. We recommend chopping it up before freezing for ease of defrosting.

What can the pate be used for?

Our pate is a complementary treat which means it cannot be fed as a complete meal. The texture of our pate is similar to a cold hotdog sausage - firm and not sticky. Our pate is so versatile, why not try our feeding suggestions: CUBE - dice into small cubes to use as a high value training treat. Perfect for recall, toilet training, agility or any training that you may be undertaking MASH - you can mash our pate into a LickiMat DICE - you can dice our pate finely and sprinkle over dry food for added enrichment SLICE - you can slice our pate into circles at a thickness of your choosing as a healthy natural treat for your dog

Is your pate low fat?

Yes. Our Lamb & Turkey pate is low fat. For natural dog food, 10% or less is considered low fat. The fat content of our pate is (lowest to highest): LAMB - 3.6% TURKEY - 3.6% CHICKEN - 12.8% BEEF - 11.2% BEEF TRIPE - 18.5%

Is your pate 100% meat?

No. Our pate is 94% pure meat with 4% sweet potato and 2% vitamins, minerals and seaweed. We wanted to stand out from the crowd with our recipe and so sweet potato is included for the following reasons: Nutrient-rich: Sweet potatoes are a good source of essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, and B6, as well as potassium and fiber. These nutrients contribute to your dog's overall health and well-being. Digestibility: Sweet potatoes are relatively easy for dogs to digest and so are a great option for dogs with sensitive stomachs or digestive issues. Low in fat: Sweet potatoes are naturally low in fat, making them a good alternative to higher-fat treats. This can be especially important for dogs that need to watch their weight or have pancreatitis. Antioxidant properties: Sweet potatoes contain antioxidants, such as beta-carotene, which can help neutralise harmful free radicals in your dog's body, potentially reducing the risk of certain health issues. Fibre content: The fiber in sweet potatoes can aid in maintaining healthy bowel movements and may contribute to better colon health in dogs. Natural sweetness: Dogs often enjoy the natural sweetness of sweet potatoes, making them a tasty and satisfying treat for your pup.
